Why Does Every (Out) Gay Male Celebrity Have This Loewe Shirt? An Investigation
The Brotherhood of the Travelling Loewe Blouse
The Chanel boots. The ruby red slippers. The itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini—what do all these things have in common?
They are items of clothing that took the world by storm, and now, a new challenger—a sparkly baby blue blouse has entered the race, targeting one specific demographic: gay white male celebs under 5’11. It’s an epidemic touching every gay male celebrity on a press tour promoting something, specifically three short kings Jonathan Bailey, Kit Connor, and Joe Locke (I’m using “celebrity” loosely for the last two) because truly why is everyone wearing this shirt?
I do wanna say that I was MUCH more concerned with the streaks of grey in Jonathan’s hair more than I was with this shirt, because, well—you have eyes!
And yes this post is about the baby blue blouse, but I just need to call attention to something just as important—no, not the watch, but you’re getting warmer tho!
The blouse in question is designed by none other than Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson, and like—is it cute? No. But is it fashion? Sure, why not…
No, you didn’t hallucinate that price. And like obviously they aren’t paying for this little sparkly, cashmere blouse, but NINE THOUSAND DOLL-HAIRS??? Be serious! No one should be paying that! Although—he looks so damn good it’s priceless.
The second celebrity to be caught blue boobied is Heartstopper’s Kit Connor, a promising young bi baby boy who—dare I say wore it better than Jonathan Bailey? This look—albeit a more tailored version has a certain Parisian chicness to it—a lil SWEETNESS to it, a lil jenny say kwah to it!!!
Unfortunately—Joe Locke, the other half of Kit Connor’s Heartstopper wore the same outfit and—well—I feel sorry for him, because some garments aren’t for everybody, and this isn’t for him! He’s wearing the exact same ensemble as Kit, but it doesn’t look HALF as good?!?!? This also isn’t a look for daytime, it’s very much a nighttime look!
Streets are saying they’re all wearing the same blouse because Jonathan will be guest starring on the new season of Heartstopper, so really, like Madame Web, the shirt connects them all.
At any rate—I have broken my silence and now I need to be alone in a room in which there are no others.
Forearm veins AND a natural salt & pepper ombré? DANGEROUS
The way Jonathan wore that shirt (and his own face and body in it)… I doesn’t even look the same on those other dudes. He is giving fierce but whimsical and they are giving Forever 21
