Can I admit something?

I do not like the Sex and the City reboot And Just Like That. I’m sorry, but I don’t! I tried to watch it, and even with the introduction and chaos of queer character Che Diaz, and the RIDICULOUS death of Big, it was missing that oomph that SATC had. It was missing the fashion. The sisterhood. The interesting plots! Most notably, it was missing Kim Cattrall! Until now!

Unless you’ve been living under last season’s Manolo Blahnik, you know that Kim Cattrall was not in Max’s (née HBOMax) reboot. Not only was she not in it, she wasn’t even asked to be a part of it! Intersectional feminism out the DOOR chile! Despite that, they tried to explain away her presence—or lack thereof—by saying she “moved” to “London” and “hasn’t been answering” Carrie’s “texts”. And now that I mention it—I don’t wanna call bullshit—but BULLSHIT. I did not watch that show as a queer teen for them to turn Samantha’s character into a deserter. She would never do that. She’s a GEMINI for chrissakes.

Now, it doesn’t matter, because for one scene—and what must have been a Birkin bulging amount of money—Kim Cattrall is back to reprise her role. Kind of. Variety reports that while Cattrall is returning, she’s not RETURNING returning, get it?

I’m not sure how this scene will play out since they won’t even talk to each other, but obviously that’s what Hollywood TV magic is for. Plus, it’s a phone convo!

Another point of contention for me was just that the fashion was soooooo BAD! I mean terrible. There were a FEW cute looks here and there, but honestly, it was almost as bad as Blake Lively’s styling in that new movie she’s doing, and baby I need it to END WITH HER.

Fortunately, Cattrall won’t have to worry about that, because Samantha will be as stylish and chic as she always was since costume designer Patricia Field who worked on the original show, but who has NOT been working on the reboot dressed Samantha for that scene. So let’s recap:

• Kim is only doing ONE scene in the show, without the showrunner OR the rest of the cast

• She’s bringing back the costume designer for this ONE scene—a costume designer who wasn’t even part of the new series (which SHOWS)

• She was CLEARLY paid an insane sum of money. Inflation is BAD y’all.

I have to hand it to her, THIS is the Samantha Jones, I KNOW! A businesswoman.
