Can we take a trip back to yesteryear?
There is this thing that happens in Hollywood when an A-list actress is in her prime. Usually she’s done a big movie, had big follow up movies, and then she does a huge movie that gets her an Oscar. And then everyone starts to hate her. It happened with Anne Hathaway, they tried to make it happen with Angelina Jolie, and most recently, it happened with Jennifer Lawrence.
Now, I’ll admit, Jennifer Lawrence is not my favourite actress, I don’t like a lot of her movies, but I also don’t hate her. There were people in the general public who wanted to see her DEAD! Stoned to death in the public square! And for what? I’m sure this was hard for her because during this time, she was still a young woman figuring herself out, and she was rich, and had the world at her fingertips.
But now that I mention it—I’m not saying JLaw is faultless, because remember her rock butt-scratching scandal in Hawaii? I mean girl! Again, that isn’t the worst thing a person can do, it’s not like she starred in Gigli. If you’ve been keeping up, the way to go about regaining the public opinion back again is to literally go hide away. Drop off the face of the planet, and then come back, fresh-faced and spritzed with amnesia about the way the world treated you. It’s very shitty, and these women shouldn’t have to go through it. But they are rich, so I’m sure they can pay to talk about this in therapy.
About that rebrand! I have a love/hate relationship with the paparazzi. I hate that they sometimes invade people’s privacy and drive them to disastrous situations, like most recently with Harry and Meghan, and obvi Princess Diana. I hate that Tobey McGuire had that awful run-in with them in 2012. I also hate that Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone had been harassed so much they had to do this.
However, I am also very nosy. So I love when the paparazzi gets behind the scenes photos of upcoming movies filming, of celebrities leaving each other’s houses and hotels in the dead of night, and most recently, for getting this shot of Jennifer Lawrence on the set of her new campaign for Dior.
I’m obSESSED with this photo! I mean good LORD! It’s everything you want in a pic!
This photo has EVERYTHING! Great fashion, great accessories, and bad bitches! (On second glance, someone hasn’t been neutered yet, but he can still be a bad bitch!) This was a shot on the aforementioned Dior shoot, and while I don’t think this look is very “Dior” that’s not what’s important. What’s important is that she’s also hanging around with a bunch of dogs!
I am a firm believer in that fact that dogs can enhance any, and every photo, but specifically a Dalmatian, the regality, the cheekbones, the spots! I don’t know a better girl. No wonder Cruela de Vil was so obsessed! And she had amazing taste.
Like, I’m sorry but this is a shot straight out of a romcom. Somebody queue up Must Love Dogs (2005)
If there’s one thing that can help with a rebrand, it’s partnering with man’s best friend. She has a new blowout, and she’s making her way downtown doing press everywhere for her new film No Hard Feelings which people have already beat to death with discourse.
Anyway, I’m rooting for you girlie!
Thank you for subscribing to Now That I Mention It—and now that I mention it, thank you for being a friend.
I love her. Sue me! She can do no wrong.
I feel soothed just looking at those photos of her with dogs. I hope Dior is opening a new dog walking subsidiary.
