I love to see a film in the early evening on a Sunday night.
I have no idea how in my 20s I would start the day with a “Sunday Funday” out to brunch by 11, and drinking throughout the day and night. In my 30s, that’s just not possible.
As such, last night I was sat comfortably in the movie theatre, seeing my former husband Jason Schwartzman (please don’t ask, the separation was amicable) in Between The Temples (amazing film, so lovely, so enjoyable) when a trailer for The Outrun (based on the novel of the same name published nearly 10 years ago) starring one of my favourite Irish Princesses—Saoirse Ronan.
You may or may not know, but I am always here, thinking of this moment, in this photo, I simply need to be their third—
But more importantly, I need to read this book! So I said to myself I said Meech, and myself said hmm? I said Now That I Mention It turns two next month. We need to start the book club with a BANG mama! And so that’s why—I know it’s short notice—but NOW THAT I MENTION IT BOOK CLUB’S September read is going to be The Outrun by Amy Liptrot. We’ll read from September 1st - 29th, and discuss on the 29th! Starting October’s title Intermezzo by Sally Rooney on October 1st!
Obviously it’s not the book cover with the movie poster on it because I absolutely ABHOR that, literally so tacky!!!
Yes! Should I get the thick rimmed reading glasses out then 👓 ?
What a fun newsletter bday plan! I welcome it, as I don’t read enough fiction (prefer nonfiction but I wanna correct that nerd imbalance!).
