*** I was at Sundance last week and girl — I’ll tell y’all about it later this week and rate some of the films I saw, but I owe paid readers a post, so this week, y’all get that bonus post babyyyy***
One thing about them Oscars, they are gonna flop.
“It’s an honor to just be nominated” is only something that losers say. It’s something that you have to say when you don’t want to seem ungrateful because that might lessen other opportunities for your career, but deep down, you’re ready to flip a table like Teresa Giudice.
Some of today’s Oscar nominations were absolutely earned. When it comes to Best Picture noms I knew The Banshees of Inisherin, Elvis (derogatory), Tár (regrettably) and Everything Everywhere All At Once would be a shoo-in — but others, were a surprise – I’m looking at you Blonde and The Fabelmans!!!
The Best and Supporting Actress noms — I need to see Angela Bassett receive an Oscar, one that she deserved her whole career, setting a record as the first actress to ever be nominated for a Marvel (derogatory) film, for which she already won a Golden Globe, and also to see Michelle Yeoh win. I love mother Blanchett but — why do we have to put bad bitches against each other! I think they all should win, and they also get a piece of the crown like in Mean Girls.
Even the best actor boys, Colin Farrell, and Austin Butler (derogatory)— I just feel like I am team Colin all day long. This is such a pivotal point in his career where people are finally getting a chance to see what he’s made of, and I want him to ride me — I mean, I want him to ride this campaign to the finish line with all kinds of interviews, chunky knit sweaters, and weird ass anecdotes. I need my boy to win.
DON’T be like my “friend” you’re better than this! I swear you are!!!
But what happens when you aren’t even nominated? I have to say, I am very annoyed at the lack of nominations surrounding Viola Davis — she wasn’t nominated for Best Actress, her film, The Woman King wasn’t nominated for Best Picture, her co-stars or director weren’t nominated, nothing for cinematography or anything. They literally said Viola? Chile, more like BYE-ola.
And not only that, this whole thing with Andrea Riseborough and her film To Leslie, It’s like, so absolutely strange. All of these celebrities came out of nowhere and started endorsing this film that no one has literally ever heard of. And they all kept saying it’s a “small film with a big heart”. Literally every social media post said that. Every interview they said that. What is going on with y’all? I need to know what information she has on you and why y’all were so confident throwing her your support. Andrea, what is going on girl?
Despite employing a flop host (Jimmy Kimmel) for the umpteenth time in history, I actually am excited. As long as I don’t hear another word about last year’s Oscars, and the “event” that happened, I’ll be OK for the rest of my life.
Anyway, I’ll leave you with this thread of Oscars that actually matters!!!!
