Pseudo Christian rock band Shinedown said it best in their 2008 number 1 chart topping, smash hit single Second Chance— “sometimes goodbye is a second chance.”
Months ago, we may have had to say goodbye to Chris Pine’s long locs, and I—albeit mistakenly—assumed his fuckability would dissipate as well. I’m not sure how to say this because in the history of humanity it’s never happened before, but I’m just gonna come out and say it. I was *gagging noise* I was wro *choking noise* I was… I was wrong. He is still very fuckable.
Am I saying I would go crazy if I saw him from across the room at a dimly lit wrap party at Seth Meyer’s New York brownstone, follow him outside and ask to bum a cigarette and stare into his eyes as he lights it for me, and then it starts to rain and a raindrop falls on my cheekbone and he wipes it off with his thumb and brings my face closer to his and we toss our cigarettes on the ground and do gay kissing? No. I’m not saying that.
What I am saying tho, is that I think second chances are important because they don’t reflect who people are, they simply reflect what we’ve done. Do y’all remember the egregious 1999 Act of Terrorism when Felicity’s Keri Russell cut her hair for season 2?
Literally who told you to do that Miss Girl? That was more for like GenX people, but it still very much affected me. You could even say it was traumatic. So now you know my dirty little secret. I suffer from Pine Tresses Seceding Disorder, better known as PTSD. Much like my prior diagnosis of BTA, we will get through this together.
In a new cover story with Esquire, the photos — were very hit or miss, and while the interview was quite nice, I was so interested in his 15 Books Everyone Should Read list mostly because we literally always see him coming out of bookstores with bags and stacks of books, but I didn’t really have any idea of what he was reading. What I thought was interesting is that he had not one, but TWO books by Colm Tóibín whose prose is SO beautiful, and he often writes about secret gay life vs following your dreams. Now I’m not saying, but I ammm just saying.
During the pandemic we saw him (masked up mind you!) hitting up Skylight in LA, and one of the books—Lady Joker by Kaoru Takamura—in his list he bought there
and like, obviously he’s no stranger to reading unlike some gleeful actresses AHEM!
Anyway, one thing I know for sure is that whatever IT is? Oh you better know he has it. Call me Chris, my number is still the same.
In the interest of improving the newsletter experience for you, a little housekeeping (not you calling me a maid!??!) — it helps me to know what you’re interested in reading, or what keeps you coming back, besides the fact that I’m very hot. So if you wouldn’t mind telling me what you’d like to read more/less of, and answering a couple survey questions, that would be great, and if you DO mind, well, I guess I know who my REAL friends are!
